Virtual surround The aim of any virtual surround sound
system should be to simulate the immersive audio experience of a
7.1 or 5.1 channel home theater system, and do it with far fewer speakers and less
complicated wiring. Instead of eight or even six separate
speakers, you can still get room-filling virtual surround sound from just three, two, or even one speaker (you can always purchase a separate wireless powered subwoofer sometime in the future).
Simulated
digital surround sound effects are a nice compromise between
installing a full-blown home theater system with wires running everywhere, and settling for
less-than-spectacular sound quality that's standard on many high definition televisions today.
A much simpler and easier to set up 2.1 speaker system with a pair of stereo speakers plus a subwoofer or even a single long soundbar speaker plus a
subwoofer is an elegant solution for smaller size rooms that LACK either adequate space to each side of the seating
area or slightly behind it or access to an AC outlet for
powering the two surrounds as required to properly set up a home theater system with "wireless"
side/rear surround sound speakers. |
